Running to beat suicide

Think You Can’t Run? Let’s Talk.

So for whatever reason, you’ve decided that running is how you’re going to lift your mood, lose weight and get fit. You pull on some jogging bottoms, an old t-shirt, dig out a worn pair of trainers, and head out the door full of determination.

Three minutes later (or maybe just one, or eight, or to the end of your street) you’re gasping for air. Your chest is burning, your legs feel like lead, and you might even feel a little bit sick. So you stop. You walk home. And you tell yourself, “I can’t run. I’m just not a runner.”

I get it. I’ve been there more than once myself, before I finally learned something important. Something that changed everything. And now, it’s something I’m passionate about sharing.

Here’s the truth: if you believe you can’t run, it’s probably because no one ever taught you how.
We don’t expect ourselves to swim, ride a horse, or throw a javelin without learning how first. So why on earth do we expect to just be able to run?

At RunningSpace, we do things differently.

We teach people – everyday people, of all ages and backgrounds – how to run. And I don’t mean how to win races. I mean how to run well, how to enjoy it, how to feel strong doing it. In fact, around 80% of people who come to RunningSpace have never run a step before (unless you count chasing buses or school sports days).

Almost every new participant says the same thing:
“I can’t run.”
“I’m not a runner.”
“I’ve never been able to run.”

And I understand why they say that — because when you’ve tried and failed, it feels final. But it’s not.

At RunningSpace, you can start where you’re at. Our sessions are carefully structured by qualified coaches to help you build gradually, safely, and confidently — no matter your fitness level or past experience. There’s no pressure, no jargon, and no need for expensive gear. Just a comfortable pair of shoes, some weather-appropriate clothes, and maybe a bottle of water.

What’s most fulfilling to me is watching people transform — not just physically, but mentally. You can see it happen: posture improves, smiles widen, confidence grows. People start saying, “I did it.” And they mean it.

So if you believe you can’t run, I’d love the chance to prove you wrong.

Check the Timetable and just turn up — no need to book.

You don’t need to be a runner to start. You just need to start — and we’ll take it from there.
